Club informationDirections to Home ground and training ground click here KitHome team kit is Navy shirts/Navy skirts or skorts/Navy & White hooped socks. Away games we wear White shirts with Navy & White hooped socks but in the event of a colour clash we change to all white socks. Senior players are required to purchase a club shirt. Plain navy or plain white socks and a dark colour gym skirt will do to start with. You must wear shin pads and it is advisable to wear a gum shield and gloves to avoid unnecessary injuries. These are available at all good sports shops for a reasonable price and are well worth the expense. Kit can be purchased from the Kit Manager. Download a kit purchase form here.MatchesThe majority of our home matches are played at Whitchurch High School but due to pitch availability we sometimes have home matches at Hawthorn High School or Pontypridd Maritime pitch. League matches are usually played on Saturdays. For our away matches we meet at the school. There we organise who is to drive etc. For home matches we are expected to provide teas for the opposition – which is usually in the form of sandwiches at the Powerleague clubhouse and each player is expected to go back to the clubhouse after a home match to help serve the teas and as courteousy to the visiting team stay until they leave. Match CancellationIn the unlikely event of a match cancellation the Captain or Team Manager will let all players know as soon as possible. If you are unable to play (i.e. in the event of extreme sickness!) please call the relevant captain. If you cannot get hold of your Captain then call one of the other team’s Captains and the message will be passed on. Away matches petrol allowanceFor away matches a petrol allowance is given to those who take their car (3 players or more in a car). Captains/Team Managers have a list of rates. Petrol rates are NOT paid for home matches – Whitchurch, Hawthorn & Pontypridd astro pitch. Petrol claim form can be downloaded here About the clubSt Fagans was formed in 1981 by the wives and girlfriends of Whitchurch Mens HC. There already was a Whitchurch LHC therefore another name had to be found and as we were, playing at St Fagans Cricket Club at the time, we became St Fagans LHC. During the 2001/02 season it was decided that as we were based at Whitchurch we would change our name – again we couldn’t use the name Whitchurch LHC so the members decided to keep the Saints part of our former name and add Whitchurch to it – thus getting Whitchurch Saints. We also decided that along with our new name we would change our kit colour from maroon to a more sliming Navy! Over the years the club has gone from strength to strength and as new members have joined and with the development of the youth section, we have had to increase the number of teams we have entered into the South Wales Hockey League until we have become one of the biggest Women’s clubs in Wales. This means that we can offer members competitive hockey what ever their ability. WSLHC ConstitutionA copy of the club's Constitution which is available to all members can be downloaded here WSLHC Equity Statement, Equal Opportunities Policy and Code of Conduct for OfficialsCode of Conduct for OfficialsWSLHC selection criteriaThe following criteria will be used during the selection process – skill, tactical/team awareness, commitment, availability, temperament and training attendance (in no particular order). Selection, post injury is at the captain’s discretion, taking into consideration length of absence and match fitness. At weekly selection meetings, match reports for the previous week’s games will be given by the captains. Players’ performance and availability will be discussed. The Selection Committee then select teams for the coming weekend. Normally, selected players will be notified by the relevant captain prior to weekly training. A player who has been selected for a lower team will be informed of the decision and the reason by the senior captain or chairwoman of selection (normally prior to weekly training). Players will normally be promoted one team at a time. Equally, the reverse will apply. Avril Gowman, Youth Manager will inform team captains of who’s available from the U15’s after their training session on a Weds night (7pm) Please do NOT go onto the pitch with your ‘notebook’ during the U15’s training session. Club members’ ResponsibilitiesPlayers must confirm with captains that they can play immediately or by Wednesday at the latest. Players must advise their captain on return from a period of unavailability. Internal selection disciplineAny player bringing the club into disrepute may be subject to disciplinary action by the Club Committee. The Selection Committee will be notified of the outcome of the investigation. Should a player have a query with the selection process, they should see their captain or Club Chairwoman. The decision of the Chairwoman is final. |
