Whitchurch Saints 3rd XI v Swansea City 3's - Saturday 29th October 2011
Score 3 - 2 Win
This was a top of the table clash and both sides started the game at a fairly slow pace. The game was evenly contested until mid way through the first half when Swansea scored their first goal. This shook up Saints who finally woke up and started playing good competitive passing hockey.
The second half was a completely different story for Saints. Fantastic team spirit and great passing saw them go 3-1 ahead with a hat trick from Jane Rowley. In the last few minutes of the game Saints conceeded a short corner and lost their defender, Anne Spicer who had a ball smacked into her ankle. Swansea captialised and scored from the short corner but with only a few minutes left it was a little too late.
Credit must go to both sides who played excellent passing hockey and also to both umpires who umpired the game really well.Saints 3s now play Sue Noake next Sat, 5th November. 10.30am start at Maritime.

Whitchurch Saints 3rd XI v UWIC 2's - Saturday 22nd October 2011
Score 1 - 0 Win
Saints 3rds played a tough match against a determined UWIC 2nds team. Both sides defended well but after some skilful play upfront by Helen Nowells and Maria Cheadle, JR slotted a goal past the UWIC keeper just before half time.
Both Saints and UWIC threatened to score in the second half with balls being deflected off the post on several occasions! Saints stayed strong however and held on to win the game 1-0.
Player of the match was for Nikki Oliver and a special mention should be made to Joey for her help on the sidelines.

Whitchurch Saints 3rd XI v Llan & Llan 1's - Saturday 1st October 2011
Score 3 - 0 Win
The first game of the season for the 3's and a new formation to test an unfamiliar Llan and Llan Team.
A cagey start by both teams with the Saints defence intercepting most of the Llan attacks before they reached the 25 yard line. Saints had some nice build up play but couldn't penetrate a stout Llan and Llan defence but Judith Livesey broke the deadlock.
Llan & Llan remained in the game well into the second half, until a great tackle by Suzie and a slick pass released the forwards who combined well freeing Hayley Hillman to score a cracker of a goal.
Saints pressed on and Rhiannon Jones on her debut scored a cheeky third. A hard fought first win for the thirds.
